O’Connell, Tivin, Griffin & Burns is pleased to announce the addition of attorneys Patrick Carrier and William Swallow. 

Patrick L. Carrier received his B.A. in English and Philosophy in the Honors Program at Loyola University Chicago in 2002. Mr. Carrier attended Notre Dame Law School on an academic fellowship and received his J.D. in the spring of 2009. Mr. Carrier joined O’Connell, Tivin, Griffin & Burns as an associate in May 2010 and is currently involved in an array of civil matters with a primary focus on asbestos litigation.

Mr. Swallow joined the firm after practicing for three years as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Cook County, Illinois. He has since worked on the defense of manufacturers and distributors in depositions and motions in preparation for trial. While working at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Mr. Swallow wrote fifty appellate briefs, successfully arguing one case in front of Illinois’ First District Court of Appeals, and authoring briefs that were the basis of two published appellate opinions. He also tried approximately three hundred misdemeanor and felony bench and jury trials. During law school, Mr. Swallow was the editor of the Frederick Douglas Moot Court Competition and member of the trial team.
